I’ll just give you the heads up of what the ROS for this round have been rolled:

Burglar! A burglar breaks into the household for one night only. Do not use any security alarms while playing this lot.
Sim must die of unknown natural causes (Sad, I know )
Spend a night in the local cemetery (Spooky)
A distant relative moves into the household

Vision Valley 2060

The sudden economic crash of 2013 had a very large impact on the small towns in Vision State. The small town of Vision Valley was hit the hardest. Businesses were forced to close down, not earning enough to cover the skyrocketing interests rates of their business loans. Eventually, the main public buildings, such as the school, church and medical clinic closed down. Families living within the facility had no choice but to move out of Vision Valley to find better jobs as their houses were foreclosed. Vision Valley became a ghost town by the end of the decade.

In 2040, the Vision State Government proposed the Tiny Towns Renewable Project, aiming to revive the desolate small towns from the area after the economic crash. It’s aim was to build and restore houses and buildings, offering highly-skilled job offers and giving out interest free business loans for families wishing to start a rural change. By 2060, the project had reached it’s target and families have now established themselves in the renewed towns.

I decided to go out on a fresh clean slate. My computer with all my Sims 2 files has crashed. Thankfully, I had most downloads on backup and got a laptop for Christmas (with Windows 7) and decided to install of my base game and EPs on there. Sadly, it looks like I have lost my original characters forever so I’ve came up with an idea; fast forward it to about 50 years into the future. Let’s just say that all of the in game characters have been affected by the financial crisis and had to move away.

I’ve already created my characters and have started playing their households and even rolled ROS’s for them.

New Lovings-Round 2 (Winter 2012)

Grace and Jonathan are 42, Damien Maxwell is 17, Liesel Maxwell is 9, Lucas Maxwell is 4

Jonathan had finally started up the town newspaper. He had brought an old, run down coffee shop, with a little office on top perfect for him to write all the articles.

Downstairs, Jonathan hired Waylon Menon and Harrison Edison to handle the cash register and making coffee for the customers.

Both and Grace and Jonathan had a lot more time for each other. Lucas is old enough not to be cared for by either of his parents all of the time. Also, Jonathan was flexible with his working hours.

See, Lucas is able to take to school bus by himself, although his older siblings keeps an eye on him.

Sadly, Damien hasn’t been keeping an eye on his schoolwork. His grades were beginning to slip.

At least I will pass to go to college he thought to himself.

He also brought home a girl he met at school. Her name was Kelsey Tyson. He was attracted to her shocking red hair and bronze, surfer girl skin. She was feisty yet charismatic.

Did I also say that she was a great kisser?

“Damien’s got a girlfriend. Damien’s got a girlfriend!” teased Liesel.

Deni Carson was always walking past Damien’s house after school. It was surprise to see a new girl with Damien. She froze for a moment. Deni didn’t want to be seen as awkward while they were playing kicky bag so she just moved along without making any emotions of anguish.

Grace isn’t quite sure about Kelsey. She tends to be under dressed during this cold climate. And she always has this attitude problem when she’s in the classroom.

Yet, Damien seems pretty happy that he has met someone.

Before Kelsey had to go home, Damien wanted to say something important to her.

“Do you want to go steady with me sometime?”

“Of course.”

On another note; Grace has fallen pregnant once again. There was no symptoms, no warning signs, it was just unexpected.

“I’m 42. I’m too old to have another baby. I have already have three kids under this roof!”

Authour’s Note:

Damien rolled the ROS ‘Meet someone new, pick someone the sim has not yet met and go steady‘. I used the crystal ball from Simbiology to find a townie for Damien to go out with. Deni seems hurt that Damien found someone new as she dumped Toby for secretly cheating on him.

Yes, Grace is pregnant. The baby is due in Autumn 2013, but luckily Damien would’ve moved out to go college by then. I consider it an accidental pregnancy as I was testing if there was fertility problems throughout the neighbourhood. Miranda and Patrick Drew had been using the Try For Baby interaction by themselves but Miranda hasn’t fallen pregnant yet.

School’s Back In-Round 2 (Autumn 2012)

Mini Update

Grace Maxwell is 42, Deni Carson, Damien Maxwell, Jennifer Franklin and Toby Franklin are 17, Liesel Maxwell, Lily Smythe, Rosie Smythe, Logan Franklin and Amelia Franklin are 9, Lucas Maxwell is 4

Toby could not bare to look at Deni. The new school semester had started and he wished that he and Deni were never table mates, sitting side by side.

School was big thing for Lucas. He just started Kindergarten and felt tiny, being the youngest kid in the class surrounded by the big kids.

Grace was still having trouble trying to control the classroom. All the 9 years olds decided to wonder off and play around with the podium.

Lunchtime was pretty much the most exiting lesson in an average school day. Toby couldn’t cope to sit next to Deni, even though Damien and Jennifer were sitting at the same table.

He just had to sit at the table of the Year 3 girls, supervised by Mrs Maxwell.

Toby was an easy target for Lily’s food fights.

Somehow, Logan and Rosie weren’t big fans of food fights and decided that they would sit together, away from the other students.

Even though Deni she broke things off with Toby, she was still thinking of him.

After lunch, it was time for physical education for the children.

Since the school currently doesn’t have a full-time PE teacher, Grace had to supervise the whole group.

The teenagers had an art and music lesson to brush up on their creativity skills before college.

Toby decided to play the guitar, to keep away from Deni as possible.

Jennifer made a clay pot but threw a tantrum because it didn’t lot right. Among other things…

When It All Falls Apart-Round 2(Summer 2011/2012)

Soundtrack: ‘When It All Falls Apart’-The Veronicas

Graham and Lucinda Franklin are 42, Jennifer and Toby Franklin are 17, Amelia and Logan Franklin are 9 (Deni Carson and Damien Maxwell are 17, Catherine Smythe is 37)

The affair had a full-blown effect on the Franklins. Graham would try and call Catherine and apologise for advancing on and flirting with her. On the other end she talks about that she was being impulsive and didn’t know what she was doing.

Jennifer and Toby were pretty angry for what their father did to their mother.

Graham tried to relate to them and apologise for what he did but it wasn’t working.

“So, why are you up so late?”

“I have to study and analyse this book because it’s part of Mrs Maxwell’s summer reading list. Can you please let me be.”

Amelia and Logan were too young to understand why their parents and older siblings weren’t their usual selves and haven’t been talking to each other.

“Daddy, why do you sleep on the couch?”

“It’s more comfortable,dear.”

“But why aren’t you in pyjamas?”

“Just more comfortable.”

Lucinda had banished Graham from the bedroom. She couldn’t even look at all the portraits she took of him, doing silly poses while she was building her photography skills.

The whole affair was taking over work. She still can’t believe that her faithful husband could do such a thing.

She decided to go outside and take a breather. Just as Catherine Smythe was walking by. She couldn’t go and attack her again. Catherine would eventually take out a restraining order and everyone will thinks she’s aggressive and avoid getting their photos taken by her.

Graham had adopted a dog called Suzi, as a ‘sorry’ gift for his family. For all the things that he has done. Toby and Jennifer didn’t really care but Amelia and Logan took notice.

It was the first time Lucinda ever encountered the new family pet. Suzi seemed friendly towards her and loved to go for walkies. It was rather good idea that Graham got a dog. They can make really good companions.

Deni Carson and Damien Maxwell decided to come over to their house on afternoon. Deni had something rather important to tell Toby.

“Toby, I want to tell you something.”

“What is it?”

“I don’t think that…I…I want to break up with you. I feel that I’m not connecting with you. I’m starting to have feelings for someone else.”

Toby’s life couldn’t get any worse. First his father had an affair. Now his girlfriend gave him a surprise break-up.

Deni couldn’t confront Toby that she has a crush on Damien. She really want to go out with him. Yet, Jennifer had also began to like Damien as well.

Author’s Note:

Toby rolled for the ROS ‘Sim gets unceremoniously dumped’. It was pretty relevant as Deni had secretly cheated on him with Damien. Also there is strong chemistry between Jennifer and Damien as they are best friends and have flirted with each other a couple of times.

This update shows the aftermath after the scandal of the church picnic. Lucinda, Jennifer and Toby are pretty mad at him, but things are already starting to patch up.

Even though I listen to a lot of alternative and indie rock, I do have a soft spot for the Veronicas (please don’t hate me ). The soundtrack tends to fit into this situation about hearts being broken. I use to write the lyrics of the song onto my wardrobe mirror with lipstick when I was 15 .

You Can’t Predict The Weather-Round 2 (Summer 2011/2012)

Interlude: Alan Carson, Grace Maxwell, Jonathan Maxwell, Graham Franklin and Lucinda Franklin are 42, Carl and Catherine Smythe are 37, Patrick and Miranda Drew are 24, Deni Carson, Damien Maxwell, Jennifer Franklin and Toby Franklin are 17, Lily Smythe, Rosie Smythe, Liesel Maxwell, Amelia Franklin and Logan Franklin are 9, Lucas Maxwell is 4 (Townies: Camryn Jensen is 30).

“Look like a good turn out here.” said Graham Franklin

This lovely Summer day was prefect enough for the Vision Valley Day Church’s annual family picnic. No cloud was in the sky and the park was abundant with food, games and entertainment hired out by Graham.

“Everybody, please don’t eat these lollies. They taste weird. Ah my jaw hurts.” Jonathan informed.

Sadly, everyone ignored his warning and dived right in.

“I don’t feel so good.”

Amelia, Rosie, Lily and Lucas went off and investigated the living statue.

“How can he stay so still?” Amelia pondered.

“How about we let off some bottle rockets and try to scare him?” yelled Lily, always wanting to get into mischief.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea you know,” Rosie advised “but he is so good!”

As a four-year old, Lucas thought that living statues was rather creepy; changing positions then staying still.

Logan wasn’t interested with the living statue. He just walk to the playground and rode on the merry-go-round. (NB: Yes, I know there’s a fight going on in the background. It was between Deni and Grace, possibly caused by the party treats from SimSlice. You’ll see photos from it in an outtakes post from this round in the near future.)

Just as everyone was getting hot dogs and food platters, grey clouds started to come in. But the picnic will still go ahead, whether in rain, hail or shine.

Everyone had different views about the sudden downpour.

“We shouldn’t let a little downpour ruin our fun.”

‘This picnic is such a bomb!”

“Honey, not in front of this kid here.”

“Er…hello? Hello? Is this thing on?” Graham said out loud as the microphone squealed and tapped.

“Uh, I would like to thank everyone for coming out here for the annual family picnic. I hope we’ll have fun for the rest of the day. I would thank some people whom, without their help, this wouldn’t be possible. I would like to thank Alan Carlson for the BBQ duties. For Grace Maxwell for bringing out the soccer nets. And one big round of applause for Catherine Smythe, for the catering side of the event. She did an excellent job of supplying the salads and cakes and with her gifted hands.”

He just had to emphasise about my major role in this event Catherine thought to herself.

Just then, a lightning bolt came out of the sky and struck a birch tree.

The whole ran over to the burning tree. Is this a bad as the picnic will get?

“Are you alright?” Graham asked Catherine.

“Please stop it.”

“Stop what?”

“This affair. The compassion. The sexual interest. It was only one time. I felt guilty about it. This is just wrong.”

Sadly, Catherine spoked a little too loud for everyone to find out about their affair. The skies cleared up when everyone realised their dirty little secret.

“How could you? I thought we had a great sex life? Why would you become such a dirty love rat?”

“How dare you cheat with my husband?” Lucinda yelled as she attacked Catherine. Everyone looked on (and somehow cheered?) as the two women fought each other.

Catherine had become the village idiot. A stupid mistake caused her to ruin a family picnic, lose in a fight and lost the trust of her husband. The picnic ended there on what would be Catherine’s most humiliating and embarrassing moment of her life.

Author’s Notes:

Well, the affair had to be stopped one way or another. Catherine still had feeling for Carl and didn’t really have much sexual desire for Graham as he does for her. I wonder how the aftermath will pave out.

The title comes from a lyric in the OutKast song Ms Jackson (You can plan a pretty picnic but you can’t predict the weather…) that pretty sums up this event. There’s also a good cover of it by The Vines if you want to check it out. It’s a melodic acoustic version without the rap verses.

Cheated Hearts-Round 2 (Spring 2011)

Carl and Catherine Smythe are 37 (Graham Franklin is 42, Jennifer Franklin is 17)

“I love you.” whispered Carl

“I love you too.” Catherine whispered back.

The family home life was great. Their businesses were good. And the woo-hooing? It was pretty obvious. Yet for Catherine, she began to have urges for something else.

Catherine’s bakery was doing good after the rough start. People came in and instantly smelled her delicious pastries.

On that one particular day, Reverend Graham Franklin had come in to ask Catherine for some catering.

“I was wondering if you could bake some cakes and nibblies for the church’s family fun day in Summer. It would be good so that the families wouldn’t have to bring their own plates of food.” Graham asked Catherine.

“Of course, since there won’t be any grey clouds or snow. Obviously.”

“It will be great. We’ll have games such as tennis…”

“…maybe hire a magician to entertain the kids…”

“…have a camp fire, sing rowdy folk songs and toast marshmallows under the night sky…”

“…and of course, dancing.” described Graham as he suddenly broke into a dance.

“Yes, that would be good. Just wait until the store closes and we’ll discuss about what to cook.” Catherine said.

She took her hand and brushed it against his face. The pastor was indeed very funny and his sermons were engaging. Catherine felt that there was chemistry between them.

As the last customers left through the door and were out of their sight she did something impulsive. She had the urge to kiss Graham.

Then they went into the photo booth that she just had installed today.

The pair had quickly got out just in time when there was a knock at the door.

It was Graham’s daughter, Jennifer. Her mother ask her to track down her father and why he was out for so long, just to enquire about having cakes at the church picnic.

“Well, Jennifer. Catherine asked me to just stay back when the shop closed as there was a lot of customers.” Graham lied.

“Yeah, whatever. These cakes would look lovely for the picnic.” Jennifer replied.

“I’ll take these muffins on the way home as well.” Graham said.

“Sure thing. Have a nice evening.”

Catherine, slumped herself down on the lounge. What have I done? she thought to herself for doing something impulsive. Was she really going through a mid-life crisis?

Of course she still loves her husband. Yet, she worries that he or Lucinda will find out about the incident. Could it happen at the church picnic?

The only option that she has is to act. Act like nothing has ever happen. To keep it a secret.

Author’s Note:

Catherine got rolled for the ROS “Mid-Life Crisis: A married/partnered Sim must start an affair with a sim of the highest LT relationship”.

As you can see, her next highest LT relationship is with Graham. But she has higher chemistry with him than with Carl.

But she still loves her husband. Catherine is in a pretty rough situation here. Hopefully nothing bad will happen at the picnic.

I’m still here. Just that my computer got infected with spyware (again). It had really annoying pop-ups and won’t allow me to open certain programs but it’s fixed. If you also have problems with spyware, I use this program called Super Antispyware which is free and get rids of trojans and viruses easily.

Up next, I’ll post one of the ROS rounds. I wonder who it will be .

Johnathan picks up little Lucas as the Maxwells hold a little celebration for his family.

They only bought a birthday cake from Baker’s Surprise and as the family watched.

His siblings for happy for him…

…as well as his mum.

Lucas turned into a child, ready for school in Autumn. He’s happy that he is going to follow mum and his big brother and sister around school everyday.

Random Occurrence Scenarios (ROS)-Round 2

I’m going to start using Random Occurrence Scenario for my households starting now. I use a file from MATY and modify it to suit my needs. There will be 4 ROS each round and will extend it when my neighbourhood grows. I use a virtual dice that is used for games such as Dungeons and Dragons to determine who gets the ROS and what will it be.

The ROS for Round 2 are:

Mid-Life Crisis: A married/partnered Sim must start an affair with a sim of the highest LT relationship. (Uh-Oh)
Your sim must fulfill 5 wants within 24 hours.
Meet someone new, pick someone the sim has not yet met and go steady.
Dumped! (Or, “It’s not you, it’s me. I just don’t want a commitment.”) Sim gets unceremoniously dumped. (Ouch)

I can’t tell who got the ROS’s but I’ll tell you that the last three will be intertwined in the storyline someway .
